Ryan has 13 years of experience with Shannon & Wilson, conducting technical and field services for geotechnical projects throughout Alaska. His projects have taken him to some of the most rugged and remote areas of Alaska. The diversity of his projects has given him the opportunity to utilize assorted field exploration methods, including track mounted drill rigs, offshore drilling from jack-up and floating platforms, and remote helicopter work. His field experience includes geotechnical and geologic site reconnaissance, soil and rock borehole logging, surface and subsurface soil sampling, in-situ soil condition testing, water level monitoring, aquifer testing, and environmental field screening and sampling.
Ryan’s experience and familiarity with conditions throughout the State provide a strong base for project scoping, execution, and managing geotechnical projects. He has performed geotechnical engineering analyses and technical writing related to deep and shallow foundation design, frost protected shallow foundations, slope stability evaluations, and roadway structural section design; and attended workshops for rock slope reinforcement and dewatering evaluations.
