Gregory Fischer, PhD, PE

President


Greg has geotechnical and civil engineering experience. He has a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering, is the author of over 20 technical papers, and has taught geotechnical and foundation engineering classes at several universities.

His extensive consulting experience includes managing the geotechnical services on several large, fast-track projects in a variety of geological conditions. Greg’s experience includes providing foundation recommendations for structures and bridges; designing cut-and-fill retaining walls, including mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls, tieback walls, soil nail walls, conventional concrete cantilever walls, and noise barrier walls; evaluating slope stability, landslides, and rockfall hazards; providing recommendations for rock slope stabilization; designing embankments over soft ground conditions; providing recommendations for excavations and fills; and providing subgrade parameters and pavement design.

Throughout his tenure at Shannon & Wilson, Greg has overseen projects in 25 states and five countries around the world.
