Austin Madsen is a Geotechnical Engineer based in Shannon & Wilson’s Boise office. His experience includes supervising drilling operations; performing mine reclamation inspections; completing soil logs, aquifer testing, and design calculations; and supporting a wide range of geotechnical investigations. Austin has contributed to rockfall mitigation projects, tie-down anchor inspections, and the collection and processing of ground penetrating radar (GPR) data. He has conducted seismic refraction and Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves to support gravel source explorations, building foundations, and retaining wall design. Additionally, Austin has supported multiple bridge projects for Idaho’s Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC), serving as the primary Field Engineer on key transportation improvements in collaboration with the Idaho Transportation Department.
Austin frequently travels between the Boise and Seattle offices to perform field work on a variety of projects for federal, municipal, local highway districts, municipalities, including the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council, and state agencies such as the Idaho Transportation Department. Federally, clients include the US Navy, US Air Force, and the Bureau of Land Management.
