Rick Chen has 15 years of geotechnical experience in the San Francisco Bay Area, with project experience spanning marsh restorations, foundation design, subsurface explorations onshore and offshore, and field instrumentation programs. He has performed seepage and slope stability analyses for levees in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, conducted site response analyses, evaluated liquefaction potential, and designed a geosynthetic reinforced wall for an intake structure. Rick has also performed pile foundation designs for commercial buildings, industrial fluid storage tanks, and wharf replacement projects. In addition, he has experience using 2-D and 3-D numerical modeling to simulate seepage and groundwater flow, and has served as the on-site field engineer for wharf replacement and levee rehabilitation projects.
