Stephen Chase
Engineer
Stephen Chase joined Shannon & Wilson’s Fairbanks office in 2021 as a Lab Technician, where he built a strong foundation in soil and aggregate laboratory testing, soil compaction testing, and field concrete testing.
In his current role as an Engineer, Stephen supports a wide range of geotechnical projects throughout Alaska, with a particular focus on arctic and cold-region engineering. He has logged and observed hundreds of geotechnical explorations in both remote and urban environments, often under challenging climatic, logistical, and seasonal conditions. His field experience includes shear wave velocity testing, geotechnical verification testing, and construction observation services, many in areas influenced by permafrost or seasonal frost. Stephen has contributed to complex construction projects involving deep dynamic compaction, vibration monitoring, pile installation, and tie-back installation.
