Sam Furmanski

Since joining the firm in 2022, Sam Furmanksi has enjoyed traveling to a variety of project sites to investigate challenging geologic conditions. With an educational background in both geology and geotechnical engineering, he specializes in recognizing and solving problems related to earthen material. Sam brings extensive experience in drilled shaft construction observation and grading operations. Over roughly a year and a half on major transportation projects in British Columbia, Canada, Sam worked directly with contractors on cast-in-drilled-hole foundations and sheet piles, verifying shaft tip conditions, logging subsurface conditions, and keeping detailed production records. 

Sam’s grading work spans projects at Pepperdine University and additional sites in British Columbia, including subgrade compaction, founding soil checks, and fill density testing. Having completed much of the exploration program at the proposed BIG Yard, Sam knows the area's subsurface materials firsthand and is well-positioned to support both drilled shaft construction and grading on the Barstow project.
