Rex Whistler transferred to Shannon & Wilson’s Portland office in January 2019, after previously working in our Seattle office since 2014. Rex received his BS in Geology from Portland State University and completed his MS in Geological Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. His 16 years of technical experience encompass geological site characterization, rock slope stability analysis, rock fall analysis, blasting and rock excavatability evaluation, open pit and underground mine design, dam safety and dam foundation/abutment evaluations, and geotechnical report preparation. He has been involved in construction observation, including foundation subgrades, micro pile foundation installations, rock bolt installation and testing, and rockfall protection systems. Rex has also been involved in subsurface field exploration and characterization for soil and rock, rockmass mapping, and instrumentation installation.
