Debanik Chaudhuri has more than 35 years of professional experience in management, design, and construction of engineering projects; 29 of these years were dedicated to providing geotechnical engineering design services to transportation, port and harbor, commercial, and energy sectors. His broad project experience includes tunnel and underground structures for light rail transit, power transmission lines and substations, bridges, port and waterfront structures, and mid- to high-rise buildings.

Debanik's expertise includes analysis and design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures and ground support, evaluation of static and dynamic slope stability, seismic ground response analysis, analysis of soil liquefaction, investigation of earthquake-induced ground failures, and numerical modeling of soil-structure interaction. He is a lecturer at California State University, Sacramento, and taught undergraduate and graduate-level geotechnical engineering courses at California Polytechnic State University at Pomona.
