Senior Geologist


Katra Wedeking joined Shannon & Wilson in 2003. She provides project management, field support, engineering analyses, and technical writing for a variety of geotechnical and environmental projects throughout Alaska, including the Anchorage area, the Kenai Peninsula, Southeast Alaska, Kodiak Island, remote villages, and the north slope. Outside of Alaska, Katra has provided field support and management for projects in Wyoming and Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands. Her project management and field activities have included on-shore and off-shore exploration programs, groundwater monitoring well installations, and surface and subsurface soil and hard rock sampling and classification. In addition to this scope, she has experience with frozen soil sampling, classification, and transport, and meets the requirements for a Qualified Environmental Professional to support environmental projects. Katra provides additional engineering support for conventional shallow foundations, pile foundations, frost-protected shallow foundations, and foundations within zones of permafrost, as well as flexible and rigid pavement systems utilizing several types of design criteria.
