Katra has 16 years of geotechnical experience, including 15 years with Shannon & Wilson. She provides field support, laboratory analyses, and technical writing for a variety of geotechnical and environmental projects throughout Alaska including in the Anchorage area, the Matanuska-Susitna valley, Kenai Peninsula, Southeast Alaska, Kodiak, remote villages, and the north slope. Field explorations have included groundwater monitoring well installations, surface and subsurface soil and hard rock sampling and classification, and on-and-offshore borings. She has experience with analytical sampling for environmental purposes and with frozen soil sampling, classification, and transport.
Katra provides engineering support for various foundation types, including conventional shallow, pile, frost-protected shallow, foundations within zones of permafrost, and flexible and rigid pavement design utilizing several types of design criteria. In addition to field activities, she provides drafting services in AutoCAD, including subsurface profiles, site plans, and other drawings or figures.
