Senior Consultant

William Hultman manages projects involving geotechnical studies and rock mechanics applications. He is skilled in the theoretical and practical aspects of rock mechanics. His specialty areas of practice include landslides, rockfall hazard assessments and mitigation methods.

During his 35 year career with Shannon & Wilson, Will has managed a variety of projects for railroad clients including tunnel rehabilitation and clearance improvements, rockfall hazard assessments and mitigation, landslide and embankment stability improvements, cut and embankment design in soil and rock, retaining walls and bridge foundation construction, and geotechnical instrumentation. His work has involved tunnel clearance and tunnel rehabilitation projects in a variety of ground conditions for over 100 individual tunnels. He has also managed projects at dam and hydroelectric facilities for public and private clients.  These have involved rockfall at hydroelectric facilities, abutment stability assessments, design of powerhouse foundations, tunnel inspection and design of new tunnels, and design of excavations in rock immediately adjacent to existing dam infrastructure.
