Hoda Soltani, PhD

Geotechnical Staff

Hoda joined Shannon and Wilson Inc. in June 2017. Her professional experience encompasses performing engineering analyses for seismic site response, deep and shallow foundation design, soil improvement design, risk assessment and mitigation of landslide hazards, slope stability, liquefaction, settlement, retaining walls, and geotechnical report preparation. She is also experienced in numerical analysis of geotechnical problems using FLAC. She has performed construction observations for drilled shafts. She was also involved in a mega project including health monitoring of a major concrete dam in Iran while working as a geotechnical engineer after completion of her Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology.

Hoda graduated with a PhD in Civil Engineering in 2016 from University of Oklahoma (OU) with a dissertation entitled “Development of soil-pile interaction models in cement-improved soils using centrifuge test data and system identification methods” awarded Inaugural Nancy Mergler Dissertation Completion Fellowship as one of the seven outstanding doctoral researches at the University of Oklahoma. Her main expertise lies in physics-based modeling of dynamical systems (centrifuge experiments), parametric and nonparametric data-driven system identification, soil-structure interaction and modeling of coupled mechanical systems, modeling and identification of hysteretic systems, data-driven structural health monitoring and damage detection. During her one-year postdoc at OU, she developed production software for the Oklahoma Statewide Intelligent Transportation System. She has published more than 15 journal and conference papers and served as a reviewer for the journal of Sound and Vibration and the journal of Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing.
