Matthew Blake

Matthew Blake, EIT

Geological Engineering Staff


Prior to joining Shannon & Wilson in 2017, Matthew spent eight years as a plant foreman for a surface sand and gravel mining operation in Massachusetts and then moved to Alaska in 2010 where he spent eight years engaged in the gold mining industry. He spent four years with a geological consulting firm in Interior Alaska where he assisted with remote site logistics and logging samples from exploration drilling.  

Matt’s field experience includes working with diamond core, air/mud rotary, reverse circulation, sonic, cable tool, and solid and hollow stem auger drilling methods.  With a BS in Geological Engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, he has played a key role in the design and construction of geotechnical projects across northern and interior Alaska, including frozen ground and arctic engineering.
