Good forest management planning means reduced uncertainty and obstacles in obtaining permits and completing harvest. We understand the natural systems of forested watersheds, and the harvesting and road-building techniques utilized in the forest industry to protect these systems. We provide extensive experience in slope stability and mass wasting issues, surface and channel erosion, sedimentation analysis, groundwater studies, and fish and riparian habitat characterization. To help maintain forest roads, our engineers and geologists recommend stabilization repairs and mitigation measures, as well as evaluate new road alignments to avoid potential future failure. Our resource analysts, including geomorphologists and biologists, evaluate existing and proposed forest conditions, assess the potential impacts from timber management on the sediment regime and fish and riparian habitat, provide alternatives or measures to mitigate these potential impacts, and develop monitoring programs to verify the anticipated conditions. Such evaluations can streamline the Forest Practice Application process; resolve Class 4 Special issues, and identify more accurately where implementation of Standard Forest Practices or Watershed Analysis prescriptions may, and may not, be required. |
